1) Course Description

 

This course explores the expressiveness of texture in abstract painting. Students will learn to go beyond flat surfaces by experimenting with layering, impasto, mixed media, and unconventional tools. Through creative exploration, students will discover how texture can create depth, and bring a painting to life. No prior experience is necessary—this class is open to both beginners and experienced painters who want to expand their artistic vocabulary.

 

2.Weekly Breakdown / Class Structure

 

Class 1 – come up with composition ideas and color palette 

Class 2 – learning Tools and Materials Beyond the Brush

Class 3 – Incorporating Mixed Media

Class 4 – Developing Abstract Composition with Texture

Class 5 – Finishing Techniques

Class 6 – Showcase and Reflection and prepare hardware for hanging 

 

3)The Goal 

 

By the end of the course, students will:

• Understand the role of texture in abstract art. 

• Gain confidence using other tools besides for a brush to your benefit 

• Leave with at least one completed abstract textured painting.
